101 - 107 Alco

With the upgrade of the line in 1969, there was a need for larger diesel engine. Alco got the order and delivered the first 7 engines (number #101 to #107) in 1969.

The first order of the seven class 101 units although started by Alco at their Schnectady, NY plant but were completed by Montreal Locomotive Works MLW in 1969 after Alco left the locomotive business.



107 Images Diesel engine 101 was built May 1969 by Alco with the builder number 602307 under DL535E specification. The 1200 hp come out of an GE 764B1 traction motor and an GEGT 581 E2 generator.

105 Images Diesel engine 105 was built May 1969 by Alco with the builder number 602305 under DL535E specification. In the same year in October 1969, the engine was destroyed on the major roundhouse fire.
